Joe McKeown’s life was following a comfortable routine—until he got a call from Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips. Phillips’ pitch was too convincing to pass up and, after 19 seasons as George Washington’s women’s basketball coach, McKeown left the East Coast for the Midwest. “I was just sitting at home enjoying myself, and then Mr. Phillips got involved in my life,” McKeown said Monday, when he was introduced to his new players. “I watched my daughter play AAU basketball. I was involved in a couple charity golf tournaments, watching some of my players play professionally. But I was also looking for new challenges.”http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-080609-northwestern-women-basketball-mckeown,0,6463274.story?track=rss
