Although the responsibility of bringing the gold home is enormous, 2004 U.S. Olympic women’s basketball coach Van Chancellor says Geno Auriemma is ready for the task. “I think Geno is most deserving of this,” said Chancellor, LSU’s coach, who won gold in Athens, Greece. “I believe the Olympic committee has made a correct choice. Geno will do a wonderful job. “And in turn, he will discover it will be one of the greatest experiences of his life. It’s one thing to coach Connecticut, and he’s done a marvelous job there, but when you are asked to coach your country’s team, it’s just one of the greatest thrills you will ever experience. And he will really enjoy it.”http://www.courant.com/sports/college/husky/women/hc-olympics0506.artmay06,0,2923018.story?track=rss
